Malayalam cinema’s much- popular crime thriller franchise, Drishyam, is all set to return with its third installment under the direction of Jeethu Joseph. The official announcement of Drishyam 3 was made by megastar Mohanlal through his social media, assuring the public that the story of Georgekutty will continue in a very different getup. Sharing a picture with director Jeethu Joseph and producer Antony Perumbavoor, Mohanlal wrote, “The Past Never Stays Silent. Drishyam 3 Confirmed! #Drishyam3 (sic).”
The Drishyam series, known for its normal storytelling and unexpected twist that captured the hearts of audience, began with the 2013 film Drishyam I, which was written and directed by Jeethu Joseph. Mohanlal, Meena, Ansiba Hassan, Esther Anil, Asha Sharath, and Siddique made the film revolve around a middle-class man, Georgekutty, who was running a private cable channel and his desperate attempts to protect his family from legal actions after a tragic incident. The film received widespread critical acclaim becoming the first Malayalam film to collect ₹50 crore, eventually grossing over ₹75 crore worldwide.
